5G in a box
The biggest challenge facing companies with multiple locations would be around managing connectivity to optimize operations. This seems perfectly valid, yet when the operations include very remote sites with limited traditional vectors of connectivity a solution needs to be found. Examples of challenging locations including Mining, Oil and Gas and Rural locations.
The solution here comes in the form of 5G, as this has the potential to provide sufficient bandwidth and connectivity to solve the issues customers might face. However, there is still an issue in how to package and procure this for the various edge sites. 5G consists of multiple components that can be problematic for companies to provide.
This is where Nearby Computing´s 5G in a box comes in. By partnering with best of breed providers in both Casa Systems as well as Lenovo, Nearby Computing has packaged everything required to get a 5G configuration up and running at the edge into a single server. There is even the added advantage to leverage Applications to optimize performance at the Edge site, such as VR, Video analytics etc.
Advantages of 5G in a Box
All software to get 5G up and running at the remote site is bundled in a single COTS hardware server. This creates a single contact for procurement and reduces time to go live.
5G in a box can either run completely standalone or leverage a central control plane. If the company already have 5G in play at their central site, they can manage the control plane from there and only leverage the 5G onsite for usage.
As Nearby Computing provides a central management interface, all the various edge sites can be managed from a single pane of glass. This allows for ease of use for management and operations and reduces cost around support personnel.
If any application use cases are required on site, they can be provisioned and monitored through the control plane, allowing scalability and leveraging of hardware onsite.
