Who are we looking for?
Nearby Computing is announcing the opening of several permanent job positions for Senior Researchers, to lead the R&I areas of the company, i.e., Cloud/Edge orchestration, 5G Core/RAN management, applied Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML). Successful applicants should have a PhD degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or any other related field.
The selected candidates will:
- Lead the research activities in one of the areas of our R&I department
- Lead the technical efforts of the company in R&I projects
- Lead and/or contribute to the preparation of research proposals
- Supervise and work closely with a team of Research Engineers
- Contribute to writing of deliverables and technical reports
- Publish high quality research in top-notch peer-reviewed journals and conferences
- Represent Nearby Computing in international exhibitions and events
- Bring innovative ideas in their research area
- Work around NearbyOne Edge Orchestrator, a state-of-the-art orchestration platform for network functions and 5G-ready applications
Location: Barcelona, Spain
Expected starting date: March-April 2023 (flexible).
Qualifications and Experience
We are looking for highly motivated, experienced researchers, holding a PhD degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or another relevant field. The required skills and experience are:
- Basic required qualification/skills/experience
- 2+ years of postdoc experience
- Previous participation in national and international research projects
- Experience in preparation of research grant proposals for funding agencies
- Good skills for leading teamwork and strong will to learn new technical concepts
- Ability to lead technical discussions among multiple actors
- Experience with scripting and programming languages such as Python and Golang
- Understanding of the cloud-native concept and orchestration and virtualization tools like Docker, Kubernetes, OSM, OpenStack, etc.
- Strong publication record in scientific peer-reviewed journals and conferences
- Fluency in English (oral/writing skills)
- Strong personal soft skills: communicative, highly collaborative, self-driven
- Other skills (valuable but not mandatory)
- Theoretical background on Edge/Fog Computing
- Knowledge of current technology trends in 5G/6G such as network slicing, data driven communications, virtualization and MEC/NFV
- Analytical skills in the areas of AI/ML, network optimization or graph theory
- Knowledge of ETSI (ZSM, ENI), ORAN and 3GPP standards
